俄总统称赞U2主唱贡献大
Rock-loving Dmitry Medvedev has tea with Bono
According to the Daily Telegraph, on August 25, Russia’s rock-music-loving President Dmitry Medvedev hosted Irish band, U2’s frontman Bono at his residence near the Black Sea resort of Sochi on August 24, praising Bono for writing music “that unites generations.”
Mr Medvedev chatted in English with Bono. The president, in jeans and grey shirt, and Bono, in his trademark dark glasses, stubble and earring, sipped tea on the veranda.
Mr Medvedev, a well-known fan of the classic rock acts Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin, complimented the 50-year-old singer, six years his senior, for highlighting problems in Africa, such as poverty and the spread of HIV/Aids.
The band, U2, will play its first-ever concert in Russia as part of its “360” world tour on the evening of August 25.
